Consultants and Actuaries

Shana Neeson is a Senior Consultant in GRS’ Southfield, Michigan office. She has more than 15 years of actuarial experience with local and statewide public employee retirement systems.

Shana has provided services to clients nationwide, including systems in Illinois, Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Virginia, and Wisconsin. She also serves as co-chair of GRS’ OPEB Committee since January 2023.

Shana’s actuarial consulting experience covers actuarial valuations, actuarial audits, experience studies, retiree health care valuations, analyses of proposed plan changes, cash flow projections and sensitivity analysis, per capita claims cost analysis, and GASB Statement Nos. 67, 68, 74, and 75 compliance. She also has extensive experience with present value calculations, retirement benefit calculations, and the preparation of annual benefit statements for system members.

In 2018, Shana co-authored an article regarding prior period adjustments in transitioning to GASB Statement No. 75.
