Some key facts include:
- In public pension trusts, $6.7 trillion in assets are professionally invested in diversified, long-term portfolios in the financial marketplace.
- Nationally, about 15.3 million firefighters, police officers, teachers and other public workers in all states and districts are covered by public plans to help provide retirement security and decrease turnover and training costs.
- Annually, about $405.5 billion in economic stimulus is distributed to 12.4 million retirees in all U.S. cities and towns (with an average benefit of $2,719 per month).
