NIRS Finds the Majority of U.S. Women Are Concerned about Retirement Security
Recently, the National Institute on Retirement Security (NIRS) released an infographic on U.S. women’s viewpoints on retirement issues based on their nationwide public opinion survey. The infographic is titled, What Do Women Think About Retirement? It supplements their recently published report, Retirement Insecurity 2024: Americans’ Views of Retirement.
The key findings include:
- 80% of women indicated that there is a national retirement crisis;
- 78% reported that the average worker cannot save enough on their own to ensure a secure retirement;
- 81% feel employers should contribute more to workers’ retirement plans to achieve a secure retirement;
- 76% indicated that it is getting increasingly difficult to retire due to debt, inflation, growing health care costs and fewer pensions;
- 82% feel that all workers should have access to a pension plan;
- 89% reported that the next administration should work with Congress to develop a feasible solution to Social Security funding;
- 81% are concerned about long-term care costs; and
- 86% feel the government should do more to help Americans get access to long-term care when needed.
